Easy 8 Breakfast series #1- Meet our #woMNonthego

In June, I hosted the first in a series of #woMNonthego events. For this drop in breakfast, I invited 8 industry leaders and innovators to style a unique look with pieces from my Easy 8 collection. The Easy 8 is designed with women on the go in mind, 8 pieces that make up 22 looks to ensure you're outfit ready for any appointment on the calendar, breakfast and beyond.

Over coffee, the conversation ranged from juggling careers and an on-the-go lifestyle to running businesses and weathering breakups (personal and professional). In addition I asked my guests a few questions about who inspires them, their favorite Easy 8 piece and what being on the go means to them. Part 2 coming soon!

Sarah Slutsky, Stylist

Most Inspiring Woman? Why?

The members of StartupGirl — I am ever inspired by the young women who are defying the odds and attempting to launch their own companies at such young ages.

What do you look for from your wardrobe?

A mix of ease and ability to re-wear, combined with pieces that have thoughtful details that lend an element of surprise or beauty.

Favourite Easy 8 piece?

This is a trick question! The collection is wonderful because it’s so versatile. I love that you can transform 8 pieces into so many looks. If I had to start with one piece from the collection it would be the flirt shirt. It’s an excellent layering piece that can be worn on its own with literally anything, or under a dress, top, sweater, and completely change the dynamic of a look.

What does a modern ‘woman on the go’ look like to you?

She is constantly evolving, she has open eyes and ears and is able to thrive in any and all scenarios.

What is one thing you’re learning now, either personally or professionally, or both?

Patience!

Most Inspiring Woman? Why?

MY MOM – she threw herself into motherhood and loved every second of it. I'm also hugely inspired by Diane Von Furstenberg as a woman who defines her own standards in everything she does, She continues to vigorously work to help female leaders and embraced femininity through fashion.

What do you look for from your wardrobe?

Versatility and ease. I have three kids and a jam-packed schedule so I am constantly looking for ways to save time. I'm always in a rush of some sort so having easy basics that all go together, and can take me from one activity to the next, is key. Misha's Easy 8 are a great example of this and so in tune with how today's modern woman lives.

Favourite Easy 8 piece?

I'm loving my black pleated skirt that I wore in the shoot! It's super lightweight and makes feels appropriate for either a day in the office or a night dancing! Collections like Misha's are truly special in that they have struck a chord in enabling you to feel feminine, powerful, and put together but also efficient in assembling a flawless outfit instantly.

What does a modern ‘woman on the go’ look like to you?

Someone who refuses to compromise in any area of her life and is always cramming more activities into a day to take it all in and do it all.

What is one thing you’re learning now, either personally or professionally, or both?

How to pause more, take a breath and enjoy the present. That's the hardest part about being a woman on the go!

Cyndi Ramirez, Chillhouse Founder

Most Inspiring Woman? Why?

Me in 20 years. I think I'll get there! Other than me, this is an impossible question to answer because so many women inspire me for many different reasons.

What do you look for from your wardrobe?

Versatility.

What does a modern ‘woman on the go’ look like to you?

She works smart, not just hard, and knows how to balance all the things that matter to her. She doesn't apologize for not answering an email at 8pm because that person in front of her at dinner is more important at that time. She uplifts the people that uplift her and she cares deeply about issues that matter globally, not just those that apply to her. She's fearless, yet vulnerable, passionate and determined.

What is one thing you’re learning now, either personally or professionally, or both?

That I don't want to sacrifice my happiness for anything or anyone. Subsequently, I'm learning how to be less selfish every day, but I want to continue to hold on to the notion that I come first. The reason being that if we don't show up for ourselves, how can people expect us to show up for them? Professionally, I'm learning that no career path is linear. Putting together a business plan can only take you so far and you can only listen to so many people on what your business should be. I'm trusting my gut more and more every day, and I'm learning that it's the #1 thing that should dictate big business decisions.

Pari Ehsan, Model & Photographer

Most Inspiring Woman? Why?

My mother. The woman who gave me life and loves me. She taught me and gave me a platform to flourish and become anything I desired to be.

What do you look for from your wardrobe?

The perfect wardrobe for me includes the three following most important elements:

1. Statement and experimental pieces - eccentric, over the top, odd, interesting and unique pieces that maybe you only wear once because it's just too extra to be seen twice.

2. Investment pieces - I always say invest in bags, shoes and jackets and of course jewelry. I would rather wait and save to invest in, say, one piece that holds value and legacy then to buy multiple pieces over a period of time. I think it's important to be able to have those few very special pieces that you had to patiently wait for.

3. Classical pieces - These are traditional silhouettes. A suit, the perfect white blouse, a basic tee, denim, the sophisticated cocktail dress, a trench, pump, cardigan... etc :)

Favourite Easy 8 piece?

The essential mod 'Elena' cocktail dress.

What does a modern ‘woman on the go’ look like to you?

The idea of a modern woman to me isn't how she looks but how she feels. The modern woman is empowered and has the freedom to choose any life she wants to live.

What is one thing you’re learning now, either personally or professionally, or both?

Balance of both, for both my professional and personal lives to complement one another but also to create space and time exclusively for each to give the care and love they both deserve. Mindfulness and self-love.
